Tamara Kuper is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Illinois ILSTOY Teaching Policy Fellow and a 2020 Illinois Teacher of the Year Finalist. She teaches 7th-8th grade math, 8th grade social studies, art, life skills, careers, and future planning at Aviston Elementary School, where she also serves as co-athletic director, scholar bowl and math team coach, and on the technology team as the media production studio coordinator. Tamara acts as a mentor teacher within her district, serves on the district’s handbook committee, and provides professional development for her district and Regional Office of Education. She has been a Math Service Provider through IARSS Foundational Services, serves as the treasurer of her local union, and is a math curriculum content reviewer for EdReports.org. Tamara graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BA in Elementary Education and a concentration in Mathematics and earned her MA in General Administration from McKendree University.
