Tanya Katovich is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Illinois ILSTOY Policy Fellow and a 2020 Illinois Teacher of the Year Finalist. A National Board Certified Teacher, Tanya teaches chemistry at Hoffman Estates High School. She has worked as Teacher Fellow for Northwestern, co-teaches workshops for high school teachers, and helps coordinate an annual GEMS Conference (STEM conference for 5th/6th grade girls). In 2015, Tanya received the Davidson Award from the Chemistry Industry Council of Illinois for excellence in chemistry teaching. She was recognized as a finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) in 2017 and 2019. Tanya serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for Northern Illinois Science Educators (NISE). She earned her BS in Chemistry at the University of Notre Dame, her MS in Chemistry at Depaul University, and her MS in Educational Administration at Northern Illinois University.
