Laura Thomson

Laura Thomson is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Equity Leadership Institute member and Workforce Development Coordinator at South Allegheny School District in  McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She is the district’s Public Relations Coordinator and sponsors the high school’s Eradicate Hate Club. Laura is a teacher with Classrooms Without Borders and has traveled to Poland to study Holocaust education and participated in a travel study seminar through the Deep South to study Civil Rights. Laura and a team of three high school students won a trip to study polar bears in the Arctic and were recognized by President Barack Obama for Environmental Stewardship, after winning Polar Bear International’s bi-national competition to reduce the community’s carbon footprint. She was also the recipient of the Mon Valley Woman of Achievement Award. Laura has a BS in education from Slippery Rock University and is currently attending Seton Hill University to study genocide and holocaust Education.
