Taryn “Taye” Timko is a 2024-2025 Philadelphia Affinity Group Network Facilitator and is a 9th grade writing teacher at Mastery Charter Campus Lenfest. They focus on teaching children literacy and writing skills while also being culturally affirming and inclusive to a variety of learners. Taye began their teaching career as a teacher in Delaware. They are working towards building a culture of DEIA at their school by leading workshops and are dedicated to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered to express themselves. Taye is the director of youth and families at a Presbyterian Church and served as a coach with the Center for Black Educator Development’s Summer Freedom School in Philadelphia. They earned their BA in English and education from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and an MAT from Relay Graduate School of Education.
