Veronica Rivera

Veronica Rivera is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Veronica is a Kindergarten bilingual teacher at Rita Kay Driggers Elementary, where she implemented a phonics reading curriculum for bilingual at-risk kindergartners. Veronica serves as a building representative for AFT and was elected campus representative for the Northside Communication Network (NCN). She is a mentor to new teachers of alternative certification programs and undergraduate bilingual and ESL student observers. Veronica earned her alternative teacher certification in EC – 4th grade bilingual education from Region 20 and University of Texas San Antonio. She graduated from University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Business Economics and minors in Business Administration and Spanish.
