Katie Viernum is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Senior Policy Fellow. Katie is a lead teacher at Loyola University Preschool in Chicago, Illinois. With more than 15 years of teaching experience, she has focused on building relationships with families while creating and implementing developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum units. She is also the director designee and offers support and coaching for all of the teaching teams. She earned her BS in psychology at Loyola University Chicago and an MEd in instructional leadership: early childhood education with an EC special education approval from University of Illinois Chicago.
