Annie Xiong is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. She is a 2nd grade teacher, math advocate, and teacher leader at Allendale Elementary in Oakland, California. Annie reviews curriculum and provides peer guidance in math instruction, differentiation, and serving neurodivergent students. She was recognized for her efforts in “100%+ Student Average,” with nearly 70% of students growing one or more grade levels in English language arts and math. Annie was awarded East Harlem Tutorial Program’s (EHTP) Outstanding After School Lead-Teacher (2019) and received the Central California Asian Pacific Women’s (CCAPW) Scholarship (2016), acknowledging her dedication to uplifting Hmong students. She is a union bargaining representative for the Oakland Education Association (OEA), working closely with the state, California Teachers Association (CTA), and Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). Annie earned her BA in political science from University of California, Berkeley, and her MS from the Hunter Graduate School of Education, New York City.
