Dr. Bernadette Pilar Zermeño is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Educator Diversity Action Network Member. She is Lead Professor at EDvance College in San Francisco, supporting preservice early childhood educators and creating preK-3rd Credential and Bilingual Authorization (BILA) programs. In education for more than 20 years, Bernadette has been a preK, kindergarten, and transitional kindergarten (TK) educator, as well as English and dual immersion coach. She helped design and implement multilingual strategies in the Oakland Unified School District. Bernadette is a member of Oakland Children’s Initiative (Measure AA) and is an English Learner Leadership & Legacy recipient. She was awarded the Soroptimist Founder Region Fellowship Award (2021) and is National Board certified. Bernadette has a BA in psychology and a minor in education, and MAEd, both from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her EdD with an emphasis in early childhood leadership from Mills College.
