Aaron E. Johnson, Ed.D., joins Teach Plus as Program Director to launch and lead the Equity Leadership Initiative in the Pittsburgh region to increase educator diversity and explore and implement policy and practice-based solutions.
Prior to Teach Plus, he served as the Chief Strategy Officer with Consortium for Public Education, where he led initiatives with Superintendents and Principals. Aaron has served as an administrator in several Southwestern PA school districts. Aaron obtained his B.S. in Education from Edinboro University, his Master of Education from the University of Pittsburgh, and his Doctorate of Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has served as a special education teacher and Dean of Students. Additionally, Aaron serves as an adjunct professor at Chatham University (Pittsburgh), Board Chair for the Dragon’s Den ropes course, and the Program Coordinator for the Youth C.A.S.T. Leadership Network in his community.
Aaron spends his free time mainly with his wife and three children. He especially enjoys fishing and the outdoors and takes pleasure in reading and talking about books as a member of a men’s book group focused on history and culture.
