As Chief Regional Impact and Operations Officer at Teach Plus, Stephanie Devine ensures that all of Teach Plus’ internal systems create the conditions for local impact. Working across functions, Executive Directors, and their teams, she empowers leaders to maximize Teach Plus’ strategic contributions in each of our 11 regions.
From 2019-2024, she served as a Vice President and Executive Director at Teach For America (TFA), leading the Appalachian region to unprecedented gains. In setting and pursuing a 10-year impact goal-to double the number of students in 4 Eastern KY counties, achieving postsecondary readiness and success-she elevated a heavily stereotyped and underrepresented region to the national stage, earning a spot in the first Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Accelerate ED Cohort and Teach For America’s Systems Impact Lab. By building a coalition of stakeholders committed to the goal, Stephanie attracted unprecedented state, federal, foundation, and private philanthropic dollars to the region, increasing annual fundraising by almost 700% since 2019. Before her role as an Executive at TFA Appalachia, she spent five years on regional staff coaching a cohort of 40+ teachers annually. Devine and her team led the nation in teacher programmatic results and principal satisfaction even while serving teachers across 10 counties in a 4-hour radius of 17 rural, remote school districts. During her time on staff, Stephanie was honored to be a coach in Teach For America’s Inquiry Institute, a Core Values Committee member, and a graduate of the Rural School Leadership Academy. In 2024, she was selected as a Pahara Fellow.
Stephanie’s work in education began in 2011 when she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Special Education and began teaching in Baltimore City Schools P.R.I.D.E program, which supported students with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities. During her time in the classroom, Devine’s students grew an average of 2.5 years in reading over 9 months and achieved historic access to school and city wide programs. In addition to her undergraduate work, she holds a distinguished Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis on differentiated learning.
Stephanie lives with her partner on the beautiful mountain border of Eastern Kentucky and Southwest Virginia.
