Keishonda Simms joins Teach Plus as an Education Leadership Coach, supporting the Network for School Improvement (NSI) program to develop and coach Teacher Leaders as they lead change in their schools. Keishonda has been working and teaching with Chicago Public Schools for over 15 years, primarily, as a Middle School Math and Algebra Program Teacher, but also as a dance and physical education teacher, supporting the diverse populations of students.
Keishonda has a Bachelor’s Degree from Carleton College in Northfield, MN and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Middle School Education from Roosevelt University. Keishonda was a Teach Plus Change Agent and Educational Policy Fellow in 2017-2018, and continued her work with Teach Plus becoming a Senior Change Agent, and Teacher Leader with the Network for School Improvement (NSI).
When Keishonda is not pursuing her passion for educational change, she is dancing somewhere. She performs with three dance companies in Chicago and is a certified Zumba instructor. Keishonda is a Fulbright DAST Fellow and in 2022 conducted research in Salvador, Bahia, looking at using dance and technology to teach math and bridge the achievement gap.
