In-School Instructional Leadership Programs
Teach Plus teacher leaders create change needed in schools to advance equity and improve outcomes for students.
The Teach Plus instructional leadership programs grow excellent teachers’ skills to use and analyze data, make evidence-based decisions about teaching and learning, and shape professional development for their peers.
In our Instructional Leadership Programs, Teach Plus teacher leaders begin by exploring themselves as leaders, examining how their identity plays a role in their leadership and what it means to be an anti-racist advocate for equity, and understanding the leadership skills and knowledge they currently possess and in what areas they need to grow in order to better lead their colleagues.
- Teacher leaders learn and master skills on Teach Plus’s Leadership Attribute Continuum, including how to focus on what matters, skillfully facilitate adult learners, turn data into actionable knowledge, and ensure equitable and sustainable change in instructional practice. Teach Plus trains and coaches teacher leaders to develop these skills and attributes, and measures growth over time.
- To ensure that their decisions are evidence-based, teacher leaders hone their skills to shape instruction and school culture, with coaching on how to gather input from students, families and fellow educators on the root causes for challenges. They build their collaboration skills through coach-observed interactions with peers and build a community of educators dedicated to equity.
- With Teach Plus’s support, teacher leaders build a culture of shared leadership with their principal or district administrators in which they are authentically engaged in school or district-wide decision making and work towards lasting systemic change across schools and networks.
