Amanda Purkeypile is a Teach Plus Illinois Teaching Policy Fellow and a Spanish teacher at Oswego High School. She is a building representative and the legislative director for her local union. Amanda started her career at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, and has taught at Neuqua Valley High School and Yorkville High School. She has worked for the Illinois Education Association (IEA) as a member volunteer coordinator supporting IEA-recommended candidates’ campaigns, and has served on its legislative Platform Committee. Amanda was appointed to serve on her school’s Title I and her district’s legislative committees. She graduated from The University of Illinois with a BA in the Teaching of Spanish and received her MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Francis, and is pursuing her endorsement in ELL/Bilingual Education at Aurora University.
