Bill Polasky

Bill Polasky is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow. Bill is the department chair for social sciences at Stillman Valley High School in the rural exurban community of Stillman Valley, Illinois, where he teaches AP US History, AP American Government & Politics, and sociology. He was a 2018 Finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year, a 2019 nominee for the Gilder-Lehrman Illinois History Teacher of the Year, and was honored as an Illinois Top Ten Teacher of the Year for 2018-2019.  Additionally, he is a charter member of the National Coalition for Safe Schools.  Bill established the AP History program at Stillman Valley, is a National Board Certified Master Teacher, and has served as an adjunct faculty member at Rock Valley Community College in Rockford, Illinois. He serves as the College Board consultant/presenter for AP US History Workshops, providing training for teachers across the country. Bill holds a BA in Political Science and History and an MA in History and Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University.
