Christina Mier

Christy Mier is a 2020-21 Teach Plus Texas Senior Policy Fellow. Christy teaches Connections, a Dual Gifted and Talented program that integrates language arts and social studies for 4th and 5th grade students at Coldwell Elementary in El Paso, Texas. She is the Campus UIL Coordinator, team manager for a state qualifying improvisational Destination Imagination team, and the TED-Ed Club leader. Christina was nominated for the 2020 TAGT Educator for the Gifted Award and was awarded the TAGT Rising Star GT Educator Award early in her career. Her campus colleagues selected Christy as campus Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016. Through the Teach Plus Policy Fellowship, in 2019 she published an op-ed in Education Week, co-drafted a policy memo to the TEA regarding state testing changes, and was selected as an education panelist for a Texas Tribune forum on urban Texas. Christy earned a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
