Debra Nicholson

Debra Nicholson is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Illinois Teaching Policy Fellow and a 2020 Illinois Teacher of the Year Finalist. Debra teaches 9th grade Pre-AP Algebra and facilitates credit recovery for upperclassmen at Rich Central High School. She is the district mentor coordinator for new teachers and is a member of the district’s Professional Educational Committee (formerly PERA). Debra is the lead teacher for the district’s on-line credit recovery program and facilitates the “Freshmen off Track” credit recovery program. She is an adjunct professor at Prairie State College. Debra received her GED and an AA in Liberal Arts from Kennedy-King College, her BS in Mathematics from Roosevelt University, an MA in Secondary Mathematics Education from Roosevelt University, and an MA in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. Debra is currently a doctoral candidate in Organizational Leadership at Concordia University.
