Dorothy Straughter is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Mississippi Teaching Policy Fellow. Dorothy is a 5th grade mathematics teacher at Van Winkle Elementary in Jackson, Mississippi where she serves on the leadership committee and teacher support team. Dorothy has taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 4th grade In Jackson. She served as a member of the 2018 MS English Learner (EL) Advisory Panel and has written mathematics curriculum. Dorothy received a BA in Political Science from Jackson State University. She earned MAs in Elementary Education and in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Mississippi College.
