Emily Bermes is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow. Emily teaches 1st grade at Catalyst Maria Charter School, where she also serves as the primary team leader and a teacher mentor. In these roles, Emily advocates for developmentally-appropriate instructional practices and supports with training and mentoring new teachers. Additionally, Emily coordinates and coaches for her school’s Girls on the Run program. Emily graduated with a BA in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Wittenberg University and earned an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and an ESL Endorsement from National Louis University.
