Gianella James is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Texas DFW Policy Fellow. Gianella teaches chemistry at Success High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where she educates immigrants, refugees, and migrants from over 20 countries. She is a Teach for America alumna and one of 50 admitted into TFA’s first national cohort of Equity Fellows. Gianella has served on TFA’s DACA Advisory Board as one of 16 corps members and alumni selected to help champion and support DACAmented corps members across the nation under the mentorship of Professor Roberto G. Gonzales, author of Lives in Limbo. Gianella completed her corps experience in San Antonio at Estrada Achievement Center, the only public disciplinary alternative education program in SAISD. There, she served on the campus leadership team and received the SAISD Foundation grant which she utilized to implement a project-based lead.
