Eric Hitchner is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Senior Policy Fellow. Eric teaches senior literature, dual-enrollment English and public speaking, and is the capstone and ESL coordinator at Building 21 in Philadelphia. He is also the founder and steward of the Building 21 library and a curriculum studio map lead designer. Eric began his teaching career in Philadelphia and has taught a wide range of English classes from creative writing to dual-enrollment courses before taking on a new role as English as a Second Language (ESL) coordinator. Eric was the Building 21 Teacher Cornerstone Award Winner. Eric is a Philadelphia Learning Collaborative alum and PARSL member advocating for returning libraries and librarians to the Philadelphia School District. He earned his BA in English and MAEd with a concentration in English from Arcadia University before returning there to complete an ESL certificate.
