Joanna Lawrence teaches English Language Arts and writing at Manassas High School, where she is a member of the Principal’s Superfriends Team and a literacy leader. Joanna spearheads a school-wide reading and writing intervention program, which requires every teacher in the building to implement a daily 45-minute class to practice close reading and writing, and has created the “M-10” list of ten critical literacy skills that every student should know and be able to do. Joanna previously taught remedial writing at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX, where she designed a curriculum to help freshmen college students gain strategic writing skills. Joanna is a coach and mentor with REACH Memphis, a college preparation scholarship program. She holds a LLB (Hons) Degree from the University of Liverpool in the UK, and a Masters in Law in Alternate Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
