Joni Cooks is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Mississippi Teaching Policy Fellow. Joni teaches 6th-8th grade math at Pass Christian Middle School in Pass Christian, Mississippi where she serves as the district’s professional learning committee. Joni has served as grade level leader, department chair, and was recognized twice as district Teacher of the Year. She is involved in the Beta Xi Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. where she currently serves as the Tamias Grammeteus. Joni is a National Board Certified teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Spanish from Mississippi State University.
