Julia McDonald is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Commonwealth Policy Fellow. Julia teaches 9th and 10th grade English language arts at Chelsea High School in Chelsea, MA, where she also serves as an advisor to book club and organizes a book club for CHS teachers. She previously worked on the individualized student support team, grade 10 leadership team, and has worked as an advisor to the Class of 2018. While at CHS, she has mentored graduate students from Harvard’s Teacher Education Program and the Harvard Teacher Fellows Program. Julia was awarded the Sontag Prize in Urban Education in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Before teaching in Massachusetts, she taught ESL in Spain for three years. Julia graduated from New York University with a BA in English and Sociology and received her MEd in secondary education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
