Julie Oxenhandler is a Teach Plus Maryland Teaching Policy Fellow. She teaches 6th grade math at Afya Public Charter School in the Belair-Edison neighborhood of East Baltimore, where she also supports the anime club. Julie is a member of Afya’s greening committee and hosts an after-school math enrichment program. Outside of the classroom, Julie works with beginning middle school math teachers and is an instructor on classroom management at the Johns Hopkins University. Julie previously taught 7th and 8th grade English at Connexions School for the Arts, and has facilitated district PD for middle school English teachers and written curriculum for the district. She was honored by the Baltimore Jewish Council for commitment to Holocaust education in her classroom. Julie graduated from Seattle University with a BA in Marketing and a BA in English. She earned an MAT in Secondary English from the Johns Hopkins University.
