Julio Alicea is a Teach Plus Rhode Island Teaching Policy Fellow. He serves the communities of Central Falls, Pawtucket, and Providence as a social studies teacher and advisor at Blackstone Academy Charter School. As part of his many roles at BACS, he teaches world history and economics and works in the SPIRIT educational program to combat learning loss in the summer months and provide structured college access programming during the school year. In addition, Julio is an adjunct faculty member in the community development program at the Roger Williams University School of Continuing Studies, where he teaches classes on urban education and social justice education. Julio received his BA from Swarthmore College and his MAT from Brown University.
