Leah Johnson is a 2020-21 Texas Policy Fellow and is a 4th Grade English Language Arts, Reading and Writing Teacher at Carroll Elementary in Houston, Texas. Leah has previously taught at Durkee Elementary where she served as a 2nd Grade Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, 1st Grade Self-Contained,1st/2nd Combination and 3rd Grade Self-Contained teacher. In her time at Durkee, she held leadership roles such as Lead Reading Teacher for grades 3-5, Children Literacy Initiative (CLI) Mentor Teacher, and founding sponsor of the student council. Leah is an alumna of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Teacher Quality Retention Program (TQRP). She graduated from Texas Southern University with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies focused on Core Subjects EC-6.
