Andrea Lopez is a 2024-2026 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow, and Director of Special Education and middle school English language arts teacher at Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School (CCPS) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She serves the CCPS community as the Assistant Testing Coordinator and Special Education Nova Reporter. Andrea, who founded the CCPS Equity Council and was its chair for four years, serves as a voice for students in special education. Prior to CCPS, she oversaw gifted services at Jefferson Middle School and was head teacher. Andrea is a certified Crisis Prevention Institute Verbal and Non-Violence Crisis Intervention Instructor. She is a second-career teacher who received bachelor’s degrees in elementary and special education with an endorsement in gifted education from New Mexico Highlands University.
