Lynne Schneider

Lynne Schneider is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Mississippi Teaching Policy Fellow. Lynee is an English and journalism teacher at Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi where she advises the award-winning student online news publication, The Hoofbeat. Lynne serves as a mentor teacher and team leader for English III, serves on the site council, and sponsors Quill & Scroll and the National Honor Society. She is a member of the Mississippi Fellowship of Civil Rights and Labor History Teachers through Teaching for Change. Lynne has participated in seminars through The National Endowment for the Humanities focused on the civil rights movement and has hosted professional development to help teachers incorporate this history into their classes. Lynne is a board member of the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association (MSPA) and was a finalist for MSPA Adviser of the Year in 2018. A member of the Jackson Federation of Teachers (JFT), she is building representative, Vice President of Membership of JFT, and Executive Vice President of AFT-MS. She graduated from Mississippi University for Women with a BA in Journalism/Public Relations.
