Maria Martinez is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus Ready to Lead Fellow. Maria teaches 9th grade biology and PLTW Biomedical with Harmony School of Excellence-San Laredo, where she also serves as the Science Department chair. Maria is Harmony’s Science District’s Lead for the San Antonio area and a member of the District’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) initiative. She serves on the campus Strategic Alliance Committee Team, Teach Plus Harmony Cabinet team and is a teacher mentor. Maria is a recipient of the HPS Harmony Aspiring Leaders Program (HALA). Maria was a cohort member of the 2018 Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) Research Experience for STEM Educators and Teachers (RESET). She graduated with a BA in Biology and received her MA in Teaching from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) . She is currently working on her EdD in Curriculum & Instruction from North Central University and is set to graduate in 2021.
