Marisa Herrell is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Illinois Berkeley Teacher Leader. Marisa is a 4th grade teacher at Sunnyside Intermediate School, where she has taught since 2013. Before teaching at District 87, she worked as a library clerk and substitute teacher. Marisa is part of the Positive Behavior System Committee, a three-year mentor teacher, and has helped write and implement the 4th grade ELA curriculum for District 87. Marisa received her BA in social work from Northeastern Illinois University, an MAT from Concordia University, an MAET from Aurora University, and has worked as a childcare worker in a foster care shelter.
