Matthew Hight

Matthew Hight is a 2018-19 Teach Plus DFW Policy Fellow. Matthew teaches elementary math and science at Jose “Joe” May Elementary School.  He also coaches the VEX IQ Robotics Team, Texas Math and Science Coaches Association, and Lone Star Challenge.  As the campus STEM Coordinator, he will help in the campus-wide implementation of the Computer Science for Elementary School initiative. He was an Innovation in Teaching Fellow through the Dallas ISD’s Personalized Learning Department (in OTI) during the 2017-2018 school year, through which he earned the entrepreneurial award during the fellowship culmination showcase.  He has won grants through Khan Academy and Reflex Math to help his students with growth mindset and fact fluency. Matthew graduated from Iowa State University with a BA in Psychology and Political Science (double major) and graduated with distinction from National University with an MA in Education with a Specialization in Teacher Leadership.
