Payal Mital is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. Payal is a high school biology teacher, Social Handprints Overcoming Unjust Treatment (SHOUT) Club sponsor, and teacher leader with Equity Leadership Institute, South Fayette School District, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the district’s Equity Leadership Institute team and is one of the founding members of Teaching is My Favorite Color, the first affinity group for teachers of color in the Western PA region. She previously served as the head of the science department at Yeshiva Girls School. Payal earned her BS in Biotechnology from Nagpur University, India and earned her MS and PhD in biomedical science from Texas Tech University.
