Nakita Murray is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Nakita teaches 1st and 2nd grades at Steele Montessori Academy, the first public Montessori school in San Antonio. Nakita serves on the campus leadership team, courtesy committee, and is secretary of the parent teacher organization. She has previously taught grades 3, 5, and 7. She was nominated for teacher of the year at Bowden Academy during the 2017-2018 school year while serving as a 3rd grade teacher. Nakita is a 2016 corps member of Teach for America-San Antonio. She earned a BS in Social Science and Liberal Studies from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon and her Master of Arts Teaching degree from Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi.
