Matt Reid

Matt Reid is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. Matt is a 9th-12th grade humanities, American cultures, and African American studies teacher at Upper Merion High School in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Matt focuses on teaching students the importance of the Black diaspora and Africanisms as a co-leader of the Black Student Union and shares his teaching approaches using culturally relevant comics and graphic novels via school district workshops at Upper Merion High School. Matt began his teaching career at Devereux Foundation’s Emotional and Behavioral School, Boys Latin Middle School in Philadelphia, and Wissahickon School District in Ambler, PA. Matt was recently certified to teach the AP African American studies course after completing training at Howard University. Matt obtained a BA in history at Kutztown University and an MEd at Arcadia University.
