Khalil Roy is a 2025 Teach Plus National Teacher Policy Cabinet member, he is a Career and Social Studies teacher in the Avoyelles Parish School District (LaSAS) in Central Louisiana. With nearly a decade of classroom experience, he has built a reputation for success, driven by his expertise, passion, and dedication to teaching. Roy is deeply committed to education and actively contributes to several educational councils and committees. He serves on the Knowledge Development Council of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society, and is also a member of the National Board of Directors. Additionally, Roy is the head advisor of the DECA Club at his school, serves as the head advisor of the Educator Rising chapter at his school, and advises the National Technical Honor Society.
Roy’s exceptional commitment to education is reflected in numerous awards and recognitions, including the KALB Golden Apple Award, the John W. Harris Educator of Excellence Award, LG Educator Ambassador, ABOTA Fellow, and Sphere 100 Fellow. He was also named the 2024-2025 LaSAS High School Teacher of the Year and serves as an NGO United Nations Representative. He is a fierce advocate for the education profession, believing deeply that one voice can spark meaningful change.
Khalil holds a Bachelor’s in Social Science from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. Roy also serves as a professor of practice with plans to pursue a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
