Joshua Salas is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Educator Diversity Action Network Member. He is a middle school special education coordinator leader at Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy #12 in Los Angeles. Josh uplifts students and teachers through inclusive education practices, self-determination, and asset-based work. He was a high school resource specialist at Alliance Renee-Meyer Luskin Academy, where he served as a department chair and Black Student Union (BSU) & Associated Student Body (ASB) faculty advisor. Josh was named Aspiring Principal of Color Fellow for the Diversity in Leadership Institute, Advisor for Education Trust-West, and Teach Plus California Senior Policy Fellow. He began his teaching career in Los Angeles as a 2019 Teach for America corps member. Josh earned his BA in sociology & global studies from University of California, Santa Barbara and MA in sociology from San Diego State University. He received another MA in special education, and special education teaching credential and administrative credential from Loyola Marymount University.
