Turner Cooper is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Texas DFW Policy Fellow. Turner teaches 1st grade in a self-contained classroom at N. W. Harllee Early Childhood Center in Dallas ISD. Turner serves as the chairman of Education Pillar for the African American Leadership Institute powered by Paul Quinn College. He previously taught in Chicago, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. Turner was a facilitator at the 2018 National Black Male Educators Convening in Philadelphia, PA and at the 2019 Profound Gentleman Community Impact Assembly in Charlotte, NC, where he was awarded the 2019 Global Gentleman of the Year Award. He graduated with a BA in English Morehouse College and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University.
