Vanessa Morales is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Vanessa is a 2012 Teach for America Corps member and an advanced teacher at YES Prep Brays Oaks in Houston, TX. She is a diversity ambassador at her campus and a course facilitator and curriculum writer for her district. She co-founded Rice University’s Young Owls Leadership Program, a college readiness program partnered with Houston ISD focused on equipping first-generation college students in the Houston area with the skills necessary to apply and excel in the nation’s top colleges. She holds a BA in Sports Management and Political Science from Rice University and is working towards a MA in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University.
