Nitasha Walder is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Texas RISD Change Agent, special education team lead, and new teacher mentor at Thurgood Marshall Elementary in Dallas, Texas. She focuses on teaching children in the areas of math, reading, and social skills to be successful in the classroom. Nitasha initially began her teaching career in Dallas ISD (1996-1999) as a 5th grade math teacher. She transitioned to special education last year working with PK -6th grade. Nitasha is a Texas Education Policy institute fellow (21-current) and a member of TABSE (Texas Association of Black School Educators). She earned her BA in Psychology from Grambling State University, Louisiana, received her teaching credentials through Texas Teachers, and earned an MA in Professional Development with a communication certificate from Amberton University in Garland, Texas.
