Cary Zierenberg-Senge

Cary Zierenberg-Senge is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. Cary is a 12th grade high school English and English language development teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento, California. She has worked with district leadership developing social-emotional learning curriculum and strengthening restorative practices on her campus. Cary has led work at John F. Kennedy building a Newcomer Pathway for Emerging Bilingual students. Cary was part of a team at her school who were awarded the 2020 AERA PDSR-SIG’s Claudia A. Balach Teacher Researcher Award. As a teacher consultant for the Area 3 Writing Project, Cary works with teachers across the state in developing stronger writing instruction. She earned her BA in modern literature at University of California Santa Cruz, her teaching credential through Sacramento State’s PULSE Program (Preparing Urban Leaders in Secondary Education) and her MEd in education inquiry at San Joaquin Office of Education’s Teachers College.
