From our teachers
“My time [during my fellowship] has reignited my passion for education. It has taught me that I can influence the lives of my students outside of the classroom. It has given me a new and powerful purpose. This work has helped remove the "just a teacher" stigma from my mind and the minds of others.”
“[My experience with the fellowship] has deepened my knowledge, levered up my ability to influence issues that affect my students and my community, and allowed me to build relationships with and learn from and with like-minded teachers which also has a multiplier effect.”

The Teach Plus National Teacher Policy Cabinet is a federal policy fellowship for current classroom teachers to develop their policy skills and partner with the federal government on issues to promote student achievement and teacher leadership development.
Since its inception, teacher leaders have played a vital role in advancing Teach Plus’s federal policy to catalyze change in education. They have built relationships with dozens of congressional offices, collaborated with the Department of Education, led formal Congressional briefings, and made tangible changes for students, families, and educators nationwide.
In 2024, they met with over 90 U.S. Senators or U.S. Representatives and their staff, federal agency staff, and Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona, to brainstorm solutions to promote educator data collection and accessibility, literacy, and teacher leadership.
The work of the National Teacher Policy Cabinet continues to be grounded in the Student Opportunity Mandate: All students should have the opportunity to achieve their potential in an education system defined by its commitment to equity, its responsiveness to individual needs, and its ability to prepare students for postsecondary success.
